Around The Town: Rockin' with the Roogirls
November 7th Jesse Walker (http://www.jesseesheely.com, www.myspace.com/jessesheely) at 3rd and Lindsley (http://www.3rdandlindsley.com)
You many not know Jesse Walker, but all Roo fans know Jesse Sheely. She married Rooboy Dave Walker this summer and now you know who she is. This little lady has a powerful voice and takes command of the room when she belts out a tune. This Friday, she will be singing at the Minnie Pearl Cancer Benefit at 3rd and Lindsley, show time is 6 pm. Join her as she launches her career under her new indie deal. You won't be disappointed.
November 20th Janine Le Claire (http://www.janineleclair.com) at The French Quarter Cafe (http://www.frenchquartercafe.com)
Janine last played for the Kangaroos at the Coachs Night and Guernsey Presentation, and she has been to a number of games in the past couple of years as well as our Grand Final Parties. Being an ex-pat Aussie, she loves being a Kangaroo, and if you love the French Quarter atmosphere, then you need to catch her act at the French Quarter Cafe (823 Woodland Street) later this month on Thursday the 20th. Bring your beads and be early as her show time is 6 pm!
December 3rd, 10th, and 17th Kylie Harris (http://www.kylieharris.com, www.myspace.com/kylieharrismusic) at The Family Wash (http://www.familywash.com)
Kylie Harris (pictured)! Now this is a treat! If you were with the Roos in the early years, you know we used to have this talented New Zealand native delivering the American and Australian national anthems live at our home games. She has recently resurfaced with the club, being quite excited to play for the netball team. Kylie grew up playing netball, which goes to show you the drawing power of the club and all its teams. Kylie will be performing at the Family Wash in East Nashville (2038 Greenwood Avenue) three times in December, on the 3rd, the 10th, and the 17th, with each show slated to start at 8:30 pm. We will be targeting one of these shows, so look for an update in the December eNews! Welcome back, Kylie!
December 17th Jesse Walker (http://www.jesseesheely.com, www.myspace.com/jessesheely) at the Bluebird Cafe (http://www.bluebirdcafe.com)
If you missed Jesse in November, you have another chance to catch her as she makes her debut at the world famous Bluebird Cafe! Jesse takes the stage for the 8 pm show on this Wednesday night. We are planning on having a big Roo contingent there to hear her "go acoustic". If we are lucky, we will get her to autograph a few of her CDs for us to sell at next year's auction (that's me, always thinking ahead!). The night may be cold but the music in the Bluebird will be hot that night!
