Football Recruitment Day is March 7
In 2008, Head Coach Marty Thompson reinstituted our footy Recruitment Day, something we had not done for a few years. Boy were we excited to put this back on the calendar! We had a great turn out and had a lot of fun with the contests, highlighted by the Longest Kick contest with Travis "Quig" Quigley besting Dave "Walka" Walker with a 56-yard bomb in the senior division and Brien "Kitten" Blandford just edging out James Dillard.
We are pleased to announce that Recruitment Day 2009 is set for Saturday March 7th, with the activities getting underway at 1:00 pm. We will again be having the Longest Kick Contest and will be concluding the day's festivities with the boys putting on an exhibition match at approximately 2:00 pm.
So come one, come all. We are looking for experienced and novice players alike. If you have some athletic ability and a willingness to learn we will teach you. If you already know the game, what are you waiting for? We would love to have you as part of the team!
This event is being held in Elmington Park, Home of the Nashville Kangaroos. We are also excited to announce that our entire home schedule for 2009 will be hosted in Elmington Park. To get there, take the I-440 Freeway to exit 1, heading West (towards St. Thomas Hospital) and about 100 yards off the free way you will see Elmington Park on your right. Parking is free and easy.
When we are done, we will be heading over to our long-time sponsor, Sportsman's Grille - Hillsboro Village where everyone is welcome to come and hang out with us. And be sure to keep an ear on Lightning 100 as we expect a promo to be airing during the week.
See you there!
