St. Louis Blues Match This Saturday is CANCELLED

It is with much regret that I write this update:

SATURDAY'S GAME JUNE 6 WITH ST. LOUIS IS CANCELLED

The St. Louis Blues have been a part of the MAAFL competition since it inception in 2000. In fact, the Nashville Kangaroos and St. Louis Blues have played each other every year since 1999, eleven times in total (which Nashville leads 8-3). The Blues even have two MAAFL titles to their credit.

How far the mighty have fallen. The Blues have lost several key administrative/players and have struggled to fill their shoes. They felt it better to forfeit the match rather than to put us through the full effort of our game day production, only to have them unable to field a team and have to rely heavily on supplementing their numbers with ours.

Thus, we have no choice but to cancel the event. It's really a shame because the weather is supposed to be beautiful (our first good weather for a home game this year). And, we really enjoy a great relationship with the Blues: I have played in every match against them since 2000.

Our next home game is Saturday July 11th, at 2 pm against the Atlanta Kookaburras. In case you were wondering, there is NO CHANCE whatsoever this game will be cancelled. The Kookas and Roos have battled each other 18 times since 1999, and they are not struggling for numbers. In fact, they have guys come out of "retirement" just to play us. No question- this is our fiercest rivalry with the winner laying claim to being the best footy team in the south. So we are keen for the first of our home and home series with them this year.

Our next match is June 20th, at Ohio Valley, the combined Louisville/Cincinnati clubs. That event will be in Louisville, and should be a great match up if the John Harrell Cup is any indication (they stayed right with us up to the end of the Championship match).
